May 31st, 2025

Event Description
Art Jam: Plant & Pollinator (31/5) is a collaboration between the Indonesian Society of Botanical Artist (IDSBA), Bogor Naturalist, and Species Obscura supported by Naturalist Hub. This event is part of a series of Indonesian Flora 5 Botanical Art Exhibition: Khazanah Alam Nusantara organized by IDSBA, the Indonesian Botanical Gardens, and Bentara Budaya at Griya Anggrek, Bogor Botanical Gardens, 17 May–1 June 2025. This exhibition is also part of Botanical Art Worldwide 2025 which raises the theme of plant diversity or useful plant diversity and commemorates the 208th anniversary of the Bogor Botanical Gardens.
The theme raised in the Art Jam is plants and pollinators as a form of interdependent relationships between living things, between plants, animals, and humans. This event aims to open discussion and education to the general public about biodiversity and the relationship between living things through the interaction of pollinator plants, introduction to various functions and benefits of flora and fauna for human life, and biodiversity conservation.
This event includes discussion, guidance, participatory observation, and creative activities. The event, which took place from 09.30 to 12.30, was guided by Rio Ananta (IDSBA) and the presentation of materials and interpretation by Diny Hartiningtyas (Species Obscura), Hani Ristiawan (Species Obscura and IDSBA), Mutia Hanifah (Bogor Naturalist), and Restu Dwi Kelana (Species Obscura and Bogor Naturalist). The Art Jam activity began with a discussion on the theme raised. Then continued with guidance and participatory observation activities at the Orchidarium and Medicinal Plant Garden. During the guidance and observation, participants were free to discuss with the interpreter and fill in the observation journal. The event was closed with a sharing activity between participants and presenters regarding the observations that had been carried out.
This activity was carried out well, considering the enthusiasm of the participants and the interactions that were built. A total of 40 participants who attended this event came from diverse backgrounds such as students, educators, artists, researchers, and others. The combination of the diversity of participants' backgrounds and the skills of the guides, speakers and interpreters made the interaction and discussion more lively and it is hoped that the objectives of this event will be achieved.
